Art and me
What is the definition of the art? The dictionary says that art means the use of painting, drawing, sculpture etc. to represent things or express ideas. The things and ideas which we acquire in the Singapore Art Museum absolutely are inimitable, abstract, and fantastic. I thought I could understand the art partly because I enjoy drawing some follower patterns. However, after appreciating the works of art in the Singapore Art Museum, I believe that there are few art cells in my body and I am far away from an artist.
Every object on show is full of originality and inspiration. Art can be represented on common things like stationery. In a small exhibition, rules, erasers, and pencils are designed into funny, strange but exquisite shapes. Many spoons with a little picture can make up a big picture which depicts beautiful scenery. Then, there are some abstract art works as well. In a special room, a lot of bodies made of plastic are hanged in the center of the room and these bodies are covered by colored gauze. Both my peers and I feel a little disgusted. Some paintings are full of strange faces and scared scenes. We also see a group of statues. They are different parts of one body which is walking. There is a small room which has some so fearful pictures that we are afraid of entering. Besides, an electrical system of Singapore’s real situation is revealed on some big screens. We can see the traffic, the signals and people from those moving figures.
In my opinion, I really do not like some of those art works. Some odd images make people feel unhappy and afraid. The artists may want to express their ideas and minds through that abstract kind of way. In the daily life, I just draw some simple pictures for delight. In the school, most of us just appreciate some photos and do not study art really. However, the form of arts is no single. Nobody can say what a person desire to express in the art is absolutely wrong. This is why the art is so multi-form.
I do not anticipate becoming an artist, while I hope that I can approach the art close.
I thind those odd images can leave great impressions on visitors' minds. They are successful to some degree~ (Although I didn't feel happy seeing them either...haha)
ReplyDeleteIt created great intimacy between art and ordinary people when artists presented their inspirations on common subjects such as stionarise. Agree with you, those odd pieces really could not bring me any pleasure.
ReplyDeleteI like your last sentence the most. Not all of us can become artists, because that will cost us so much and need a lot of "sparks", but we can all accept art and try to appreciate and understand it.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I have to concede that there are some art work are quite scary, especially to girls however, I think the artist actually just want to use some extreme odd pictures or sculptures to reflect some repulsive phenomena in our society.
ReplyDeleteYou don't have to know art to appreciate art! Just like how you don't need to be a musician to appreciate good music.
