The second learning journey
Once again comes the learning journey, and once again do we come to museums. We all got very bored with the journey before going there. However, it seemed that we students have no rights to choose the place we want to go. At the Nation Museum, I happened to meet several groups of students from different schools. I got very confused when I came across them. Last time when I was in the Science Park, I met a lot of students, too. Among those juniors, I remembered a handsome boy, and I met him several times in the museum. At the third time, I asked him: “hey, handsome boy, why are you all here?” he smiled and answered: “you must be Chinese, your English is so strange. Well, our teacher said that we can learn a lot about our history and art in the museum; he even demand us to write a learning journal, forcing us to cherish this chance and learn something from the museum.” At a latter talk with my friend, I knew that in Singapore, arranged by school, almost every student need to go to the museums. They would learn their history and know the power of technology there. I got shocked. I have never had an experience that our school organized us to go to museum or science center in China. Thus, I know that in such a country that everyone value education that much, no wonder it would develop rapidly. This kind of education is not teaching children how to get high marks, how to work out difficult math problems. This kind of education is to teaching them a country’s history or a country’s stories which are filled with blood and sweat; and let them know how to behave or what to do to take over their father’s generation. That night, I felt the burden on me and the whole generation.

  1. The burden and the whole generation...Oh your thoughts are so deep.Your experiences were also interesting. Yes,it's true. Visiting museums is a good way to know more and encourage oneself to do some contributions to the country.

  2. Just as you say, education may be one of the most significant reasons that contributes to Singaporean development. Actually, I think China has also paid close attention to developing education. However, the way that we educate our children is not as effective as other developed countries.
