Staying on my bed, I was too lazy to move my body this Sunday morning, although the weather was quite nice for us to go hiking or doing some sports outdoors.
Suddenly a voice came from outside: “ Prof Tay is having a show in the canteen of Eton Hall.” Prof Tay is our C programming teacher and he is somewhat weird, most of the time he seems to be quite solemn and very strict to us, however, he is really funny sometimes. I jumped out of my bed and quickly put on my clothes, and then I rushed out of my room, walking straightly to the canteen in a hurry. When I got there, I found Prof Tay appeared in the canteen as expected, and he was singing songs while many of us SM3 scholars were sitting here, facing him and listening to the song with euphoria. Prof Tay was capable of singing and actually he had showed us his talent before, which had left us a deep impression.
This show touched me completely not because how well Prof Tay sang, but the amiable way he treated us. To be honest, it’s totally different from the situation in China. I will never imagine that a professor will come to students’ hostel, singing for the students on purpose. It is even quite difficult for a student to meet with a professor out of class. The professors in China always seems to be busy and have no time to discuss something with students, but nobody exactly know what they are busy doing except themselves.
In my view, it is something quite significant that the professors in China should learn, and they also need to know how to make friends with students, because it is beneficial to both sides.
Yes, Prof Tay's "concert" was really a hit...I will not comment on his way of singing first, it's just the courage of singing in front a lot of students of him is something I myself will never have...By the way, he sang well, didn't him?
ReplyDeleteDo you know why Prof Tay came to Eton Hall singing songs to all of us? It was because SM2 students invited him as a special guest for their basketball game. By the way , I was an referee for SM2 students' basketball game. Actually, I appreciate Prof Tay's enthusiasm for music. Perhaps, he was not a professional singer, but his passion for music is stronger than a great deal of them.
ReplyDeleteHaha~Intersting~! Frankly speaking, he is really a excellent teacher. I like him very much! The person who be serious when he should serious and be easy-going when he should easy-going deserves our love.
