Give Them a Chance to Survive

This is a true story that I read from the newspaper. A European tourist once took a visit to India. By the said of the street, he saw an Indian mother cut her son’s left hand personally. Around her were her other children who were all disabled. Why did she do so? You might think she was so cruel and inhuman. But the truth was that she did so all for her children. Because she could not raise the children and if they were disabled, they might survive by being given alms from others instead of starving to death with a complete body.
In my opinion, human rights are rights and freedom to which we are all entitled. But to the Indian family, the children had no food, let alone the access to education; the mother were forced to hurt her children no matter how unwilling she was. They lived in the pain and terror of death every day. All the misery was driven by poverty. Their rights to live and freedom to love were deprived of but no choice for them.
Life is a must and basis for human rights. It is also the prerequisite of the realization of human rights. When the children in the slums are in desperate of one dollar to by a bar of bread, the rich yet spend thousands on a small cube of chocolate. I do not mean to condemn their luxury because it is also their rights and freedom that I should respect. Even though everyone is born equal, equality is not applied to everyone, to some extent. That is also one of the reasons why the world is not perfect.
However, I still believe there is sunshine behind the rain since there are a lot of gracious beings in the world. As the human society develops, a perfect world will come someday.

  1. A perfect world some day? I don`t think so. There`ll always be winners and losers. But life could be better for the disadvantaged as society becomes more gracious .
However sometimes the way we behave makes me think that the world is taking a step back instead of moving forward.

  2. There will never be a world that everyone is equal, as long as we have the desire to acquire substance. That is the reason why socialism is superior to capitalism. We cannot change the reality, so perhaps we just need to fulfill our own need.

  3. it is a ture world, and everyone has his own way to live in this cruel world. all that we can do is to seize the chance to learn more and do more things to help others when we have chances.

  4. Well, human rights is a serious topic. In China, the differences between the rich and the poor are still very huge. But we cannot control it.Rich men would like to buy a small bag which worth one year income of a farmer. These things are hard to common.Everyone cannot be equal,so what we should do I suppose is to try hard to fulfill our dreams.
