The Past Has Passed

Sometimes, we see people arguing about topics related to incidents that have happened several or even hundreds of years ago. For example, in ancient China, there was a famous soldier called Lv Bu, one day, an argument occured in my room between my roommates, they argued about whether Lv Bu REALLY loved Diao Chan, a famous beauty at that time. I haven't read "The Romance of Three Kingdoms", in which those two people are dipicted, so I didn't say anything at all, but there was another reason---I don't even like to "touch" history, let alone arguing about it. The reason is simple---in history, there is no right or wrong, nobody knows what happened EXACTLY. How can we study without truth? How can we argue without proofs---which should be true? I always think, the past has passed, it's a waste of time to study it UNLESS we all can get positive inspirations, instead of insulting others' oponions and get angry for the next several hours.
Maybe some guys won't agree with me and regard me as a stupid flippant person. What I want to say is, I always think people who know a lot about history are amazing and mature, because it represents their having read a lot of books---which is great. I say bad on maths and history just because I hate them, haha.

  2. I just think that if we're too curious maybe we'll be driven crazy easily.haha. I agree with you - some things are gone and never come back. It's not necessary to know the truth. Maybe, believing a beatiful imagine makes us happier.

  3. not really,I cannot agree with some of your words, maybe we cannot change what has happened, but we do learn something from history, the experience, the spirits, the methods. I do not think a man who does not respect history can be someone.

  4. The history is just "his story"--the winner's story.Do you believe the true history exist in the world?I don't think so.What we can do now is only to learn knowledge from these stories.

  5. Yes, I agree with Shumin; history is written by the victor. There is no way of knowing whether history really happened. But I guess the value in history lies within the morals imparted; these have value regardless of the truth of the matter.

(also, there are some spelling errors in the post! be more careful next time)

  6. When I realised you love Engligh and hate Math,I thought you're a guy who should be good at history.Well, the fact is weird. All right,I don't like history, either. And I agree with you-the person who knows well in history is great. Many people say history cantains a lot of wisdom.Maybe in these arguments,we can know more and release the knowledge which has been hidden for several thousands of years.
