Culture Of Mahjong
Every time we talk about Chinese culture, we will refer one thing, which is called mahjong.
Mahjong has a long history in China. Initially, it was named Madiao. This kind of game offers you a perception of waiting but exciting. Your mahjong in your hand may have some collocation, so you may need one another mahjong to win the game. Therefore, the most exciting time is coming which is waiting for the decisive mahjong. This game makes us keep exciting. We may cannot keep our passion for a long time work, but we can keep it because of mahjong.
With a long time history, some culture of China may diminish, but mahjong is always hot. What’s more? This game has developed to varieties such as Canton mahjong and Sichuan mahjong, and this game has been spread to the whole world.
Why do we call it mahjong? That’s because in ancient times, after wars, soldiers always felt very tired, mahjong was a good tool to make them exciting. Mah means take away the tiredness;Jong means a soldier, so mahjong means take away the soldiers’ tiredness.
It’s the main entertainment to kill our leisure time.
Some may say it’s gambling, but if we use it well, and don’t be addict to it, I think it will benefit us.

  1. Thanks for the information about mahjong. I don`t know whether this game does take away tiredness as one needs to concentrate in order to win the game. It need not be considered gambling if there`s no betting or big money involved. A Western equivilant is bridge. Actually playing mahjong or bridge does sharpen one`s mind and keep one mentally alert.

  5. I can still remember a novel I read in high school. It writed that, in future robots take charge of the world, and most of human-beings are kill by the robot. However, a genius writes a viurs invading the system of robots, and human-beings win the war finally. The viurs is a programme of Mahjong, which makes robots desert and play Mahjong...I think that novel tell us an axiom------Never addicted to Mahjong.
