After learning the “culture shock”, I feel a little confused. To be honest, I do not think I am going through culture shock, while some of my friends are suffering this “disease”.
Our theme five tells us the culture shock includes “honeymoon phase”, “rejection phase”, “regression phase”, “recovery phase” and “reverses culture shock”. For me, everything seems to be quite simple. I like the food, the air, the sky and the green. After knowing some necessary things, I feel satisfied with new school, interesting lessons, kind tutors and sweet friends. As one tutor said in the message, I have already added some excellent memories in my life since I arrived in Singapore .
A new, strange circumstance usually brings us some stress and nerve. As a girl who travels to live far away from hometown, sometimes I do feel lonely. On the spring festival, I cannot share many delicious home dishes with my parents. However, I own a new family with the help of MOE. My host family invited me to celebrate the spring festival in their home. The uncle has two sons and his second son has already become a father----uncle has owned a 8-month grandson. I tasted a famous local food called “yusheng” and talked about some Chinese customs in spring festival. I also made acquaintance with a local boy called John who is in the army. That night was really a happy warm get-together, which brings me a memorable festival.
No matter how changeable the future is, I will be my own best friend. I hope I could become a fish who can live in any kind of water.
what a beautiful fish~!wow~it seems that everyone is talking about culture shock~well, after i attend the host family program,i feel more confident to integrate in this sociaty. Thanks MOE!!!!
ReplyDeleteIn fact, i really don't want to talk about culture shock. However, tutor asked us to write something about our theme,so....
ReplyDeleteCulture shock...I just know I am now in the 4th phase, hope you all are in this one, too.
ReplyDeleteI think generally the culture shock you will experience here in Singapore is not as high as it would be if you went to another country to study! Singapore is a very multicultural and tolerant country in the first place. =)
